Your Questions, Answered
What to know before you sell.
These answers cover the most common questions about visiting Valley Goldmine. If your situation is unusual or you are unsure whether an item is something we evaluate, call us before your appointment.
Appointments & Locations
Can I stop by without an appointment?
Valley Goldmine meets with customers by appointment. Scheduling in advance helps ensure someone is available to meet with you privately at the office you choose.
Where are your offices?
Valley Goldmine has offices in Phoenix and Chandler, Arizona. You can view both locations before scheduling your appointment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring the items you would like evaluated and a government-issued photo ID. You do not need to know the karat, weight or value of each item before arriving.
Are appointments private?
Yes. Valley Goldmine uses private, one-on-one appointments so you can ask questions and review the evaluation without the pressure of a retail counter environment.
Evaluation & Pricing
How do you determine the value of gold jewelry?
Pure gold is 24 karat. Most jewelry contains gold mixed with other metals, so the amount of actual gold varies by karat. During an evaluation, precious-metal content, weight and the nature of the item are considered when determining an offer.
Does the condition of my jewelry matter?
Broken or unwanted jewelry can still have value. Some pieces may also have value beyond metal content alone, so bring the item as-is rather than assuming it has no value because it is damaged or out of style.
Can I watch while my items are evaluated?
Valley Goldmine’s process is designed to be transparent. Items can be tested and weighed in front of you, and you can ask questions as the evaluation takes place.
What Valley Goldmine Buys
What kinds of items do you buy?
Valley Goldmine evaluates a wide range of items, including gold jewelry, silver, platinum, diamonds, coins, bullion, estate jewelry, sterling silverware and some dental gold.
Can I bring a mixed collection if I do not know what everything is?
Yes. You do not need to sort or identify every item before your appointment. Bring the collection you want evaluated and the items can be reviewed with you.
Do you buy broken gold jewelry?
Yes. Broken rings, chains, bracelets, earrings and other gold jewelry can still be evaluated for their precious-metal content and any additional value the piece may have.
Can I sell silver, platinum or diamonds too?
Selling Your Items
Do I have to sell after the evaluation?
No. You can review the offer, ask questions and decide whether selling makes sense for you.
Can I keep gemstones from jewelry I sell?
Tell Valley Goldmine before selling if you want to keep stones. For eligible pieces, stone removal can be arranged after any required holding period. Ask about the current process during your appointment.
How will I be paid?
The legacy Valley Goldmine FAQ states that payments are made by check rather than cash. Because payment policies can change, confirm the current payment method when you schedule or arrive for your appointment.
